MEXICO TOURISM

Special Report: Mexico's Amazing Tourism Turnaround

By James Wilkinson in Los Cabos, Mexico

From the outbreak of swine flu to drug trafficking violence, the global financial crisis and a series of hurricanes, it’s fair to say Mexico has had a tough 2009.

But now the country is educating the world how to come back from an epic travel downturn, becoming one of the hottest destinations of 2010 thanks to worldwide marketing, great value holidays, increased accessibility and extensive travel editorial coverage.

Leading hotelier Michael Oney, General Manager of the Presidente InterContinental Los Cabos, said the reason for the turnaround comes down to education from the country’s national and regional tourist boards.

“The Mexican culture has generally focused on the issues at hand and I feel that this has proven to be a great strength in recovering from the myriad of market failures that were faced in 2009,” he told SpiceNews. Click here to Read the Full Article

Medical Tourism a Growing Trend Among Those Frustrated with U.S. Healthcare System

PHOENIX, Ariz. (Nov. 25, 2009) – In 2008, it is estimated that approximately 1.3 million Americans traveled abroad to seek healthcare and this figure is expected to double by 2010.1 Frustrations related to U.S. healthcare combined with emerging facilities from distinguished companies like Atlantic Health International (AHI) are molding medical tourism into a low-cost, viable option for quality healthcare. Houston-based AHI is highly recognized and respected in the U.S. healthcare market as having significant experience in healthcare development and management. It is because of this reputation that AHI is able to attract board-certified U.S. physicians with the highest standard of medical/surgical care, including Scottsdale-based Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Amit Sahasrabudhe.

“A common misconception is that patients traveling abroad for care are seeing physicians who practice in those countries,” Dr. Sahasrabudhe said. “I am proud to be among AHI’s group of U.S. physicians who will be making frequent trips to Mazatlán to perform the same procedures I offer from my Scottsdale location at a fraction of the cost.”  Click Here to Read the Full Article

Airlines Continue to Spread Wings Over Mexico

Airlines are responding to increasing U.S. and Canadian demand for service to Mexico by widening service options to the country’s many destinations. With greater air access, the airlines contribute to boosting international tourist arrivals.

During the past six months, a mix of major airlines and low-cost carriers in the United States and Canada have enhanced service schedules to different parts of Mexico through additional frequencies of existing routes and the launch of new services.

“That airlines across the board are increasing flight options to Mexico demonstrates the high degree of confidence the travel industry has in our country, and the interest travelers have in discovering Mexico for themselves. Mexicans are known around the world for their warmth and hospitality, and North American travelers will be welcomed with open arms,” said Magdalena Carral, CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board.  Click Here to Read the Full Article

OTHER NEWS

Viva Mexico! Why Americans are heading south for work.

Americans are moving to Mexico for work? This seems quite anomalous to many, considering that historically and currently millions of Mexicans continue to immigrate, legally and illegally, to the U.S. in search of a better (and more lucrative) life.

But more than 1 million Americans have made Mexico their home of late, a trend that shows no signs of slowing down. They've flocked there for a variety of reasons, including its warmer climate, selling points as a place to raise children and retire, inexpensive health care and, more than ever before, work opportunities.   Click Here to Read the Full Article
